One of the more memorable countries Bella and I have visited is Malaysia. I’ve got several relatives living there. They were kind enough to put us up for a couple months back in 2016. Malaysia’s population is more than 60% muslim, which means it’s generally not dog friendly and getting a drink is expensive (my solution is this online whisky store in KL).
While we were there, we did manage to find a few dog-friendly havens. Because of the general unfriendliness towards dogs, these havens attracted a large population of canine enthusiasts and families. These places hosted dog events, and in general a broad range of breeds. If you’re ever in Malaysia, I highly recommend going here:
- Central Park, Bandar Utama
The Central Park in Bandar Utama is probably one of the most well known pet-friendly parks in Malaysia. You can easily catch other pet owners with their dogs walking and strolling around. You can even join in by signing up in the dog obedience training sessions every weekend by the Canine Sportzclub.
Location: Dataran Bandar Utama, Bandar Utama, 47800 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
- Desa Park City, Kepong
Another favorite among pet owners is the Desa Park City Waterfront. You can take your furry companions here to bask in the glory of weekends. What is more, you can even hang out in nearby pet-friendly cafes and restaurants surrounding the park. You won’t definitely miss any opportunity to spend with your beloved canine.
Location: Desa Parkcity, 52200 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- Pets Pavilion, Setia Eco-Park, Shah Alam
As the name says, this park is truly every pets pavilion to enjoy a number of activities with other furry friends. Pets Pavilion is equipped with a number of facilities that are completely designed for pets—from obstacle run and play pond, to bathing area, and more interesting and fun features.
Location: Setia Eco-park, 40170 Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia
- Taman Tasik Cyberjaya, Cyberjaya
If you want a more serene and relaxing place to comfortably enjoy with your pets, then the Taman Tasik Cyberjaya is the perfect place. So keep them on a leash and enjoy quiet walks in the park together.
Location: Persiaran Bestari, Off Persiaran Semarak Api, 63000, Cyberjaya, Malaysia
- Bukit Gasing, Petaling Jaya
Unlike the rest above, the Bukit Gasing is not a park. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take your dog their and enjoy the fresh air. Just make sure to keep them on a leash so as not to disturb others.
Location: Bukit Gasing, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
- Casa Permai Central Park, Tanjung Bungah, Penang
If you are living in Penang, then take your dogs out and visit the Casa Permai Central Park. Make sure not to forget to keep a close eye on them. And also, take with you a poop bag just in case. This is to keep the pet-friendly places even more favorable around Malaysia.
Location: Lorong Lembah Permai 1, Tanjung Tokong, 11200 Tanjung Bungah, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia
- Japanese Garden, Penang Botanical Gardens, Penang
Sharing the beautiful scenery in a relaxing place with your dogs is now possible here at Japanese Garden. Walk through the trails and take in the breathtaking view. But take note that dogs are only allowed in Japanese Garden and Moon Gate.
Location: 673A, Jalan Kebun Bunga, Pulau Tikus, 10350 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia
- Lebuhraya Rose Park, Georgetown, Penang
Take a stroll with your canine pals at Lebuhraya Rose Park, otherwise known as Rose Avenue. And since this is a residential area, always make sure to keep a close eye on your dogs.
Location: Lebuhraya Rose, 10350 George Town, Penang, Malaysia
