Health Minister Tony Clement unvailed Canada's newly improved Canada Food Guide today which contains information on nutritional components of our daily diet

The Canada food guide has undergone a mini transformation, and has been released today in Ottawa. Health Minister Tony Clement, made the announcement today and is very excited about the new updated version of the food guide that is relied on by millions of Canadians for nutritional information.

“The new food guide incorporates the best and the most current information that nutritional science has to offer,” Clement told a news conference at a grocery store this morning.

The guide, emphasizes the importants of fruit and vegetable consumption as well as stressing that people over 50, should be supplementing with a Vitamin D supplement.

It stresses the importance of limiting high calory and trans fatty foods from one's diet, along with foods high in sugar and salt also.

A new addition to the guide, is information pertaining to the calory intake of both men and women that is appropriate for each sex, as well as furthered information relating to portion sizes.
